Molokai Vacation

Molokai Hawaii Vacation

A Molokai vacation is a relaxing way to unwind and release the stresses of life in a fast paced world. Known as the 'friendly isle', Molokai has no stop lights, and a relaxed atmosphere. Molokai is the least developed of the Hawaiian Islands, and is true to native Hawaiian traditions.

A Molokai vacation is not complete without a visit to the Popohaku beach, the second largest beach in Hawaii. Popohaku beach offers swimming in the summer, and surfing all winter. Molokai, Hawaii boasts average year round temperatures of about 75 degrees, and is the perfect place to hide from the pressures of the world. The island offers several other secluded beaches to visitors for picnics, frolicking in the water, or simply working on your tan.

Other activities include both water and land adventures. In the water, you can enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, sailing, swimming, surfing and a visit to the world's tallest sea cliffs. On land there are mule rides to the Kalaupapa peninsula, and hiking in Halawa Valley. Winter months boast whale watching. Molokai vacationers can also learn of Father Damien, a highly regarded missionary, and experience the breath taking beauty in the 3000 acre rainforest of the Kamakou preserve.

Accommodations on Molokai are somewhat limited, with only one luxury resort. Other options include hotels, cottages, bed and breakfasts, and condominiums. The best way to see the island is to rent a car, although some of the more remote locations of the island will require a four wheel drive vehicle.

There are only two ways to get to the island of Molokai. You can either take a local flight, or catch the ferry that runs twice a day. The sunsets that can be viewed from the afternoon ferry are legendary and if your visit is during the winter months you can watch the whales from the deck during your ride to the island.

While there are many different activities to enjoy on Molokai - and you will fall into bed exhausted at the end of the day - the island's life-style is to slow down, relax and enjoy your stay. Your Molokai vacation will be one of the most peaceful, stress-free times of your life, and will provide life-long, unforgettable memories.
